Pfc. Travis Icke, assigned to the 731st Transportation Company, puts a tourniquet on the legs of Spc. Ashley Lapadat, assigned to Headquarters Company, 134th Brigade Support Battalion, during a mass casualty exercise at Ali Air Base, June 28. The mass casualty exercise was designed to test the capabilities of the joint first responders from the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, Australian Army, and Romanian Army medical teams to treat 34 casualties in a timely manner. Even though medical teams are deployed to Iraq, it is still necessary to have exercises like this to keep their skills sharp in the event of a real emergency.
