Lance Cpl's Fredis Coreas (left) and Nathan Morningstar, both combat engineers with Bridge Platoon, Alpha Company, 9th Engineer Support Battalion, use pickaxes to remove some hardened earth in order prepare an area for the construction of a bridge near Combat Outpost Rankel in the district of Garmsir, Helmand province, Jan. 29. The Marines of Bridge Platoon endured a 5-day convoy in order to replace a temporary bridge with a more permanent structure that would increase mobility for Marines operating in the area.
