SAN DIEGO (May 1, 2019) – Capt. Christopher Westphal, commanding officer of the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), and Ship’s Serviceman 3rd Class Tkeyia Rhodes cut the ribbon at the grand re-opening of the ship’s store. The ship’s store accommodates Sailors with basic living essentials and various merchandise. Makin Island, homeported in San Diego, is conducting a depot-level maintenance availability.
