SAN DIEGO (May 1, 2019) – Command Master Chief Neal Olds, Capt. Christopher Westphal, commanding officer of the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), and Capt. Thomas Ulmer, the ship’s executive officer use a cutlass to cut a cake at the galley’s grand re-opening. The ship’s galley provides three meals a day to over 1,000 Sailors.
