Cushing, during a retreat ceremony held in honor of Cushing's dedication and service to the division at the 1st Armored Division Headquarters Parade Field on Fort Bliss, Texas, May 1, 2019.
As part of the retreat ceremony, Cushing was awarded the Legion of Merit for his duties as the division's Chief of Staff. The decoration is given for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services and achievements.
