Flags representing the different brigades composing of the 1st Armored Division are presented as the flag of the United States is lowered at the end of a retreat ceremony honoring the outgoing Chief of Staff of 1AD, Col. John M. Cushing, at 1AD Headquarters Parade Field, Fort Bliss, Texas, May 1, 2019.
As part of the retreat ceremony, Cushing was awarded the Legion of Merit for his duties as the 1st Armored Division Chief of Staff, a decoration which is given for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services and achievements.
