The Illinois National Guard has had a strategically important State Partnership Program with the Polish military for more than 25 years. As part of the program The Adjutant General and other senior leaders visit Poland at least once a year. In 2019 that official senior leader visit took place in May. The Illinois National Guard Senior Leader Team visited the Polish Armed Forces General Staff. Pictured on the left from front to back is Maj. Jeramy Miles, the Bilateral Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy Warsaw; Brig. Gen. Richard Neely, The Adjutant General of the Illinois National Guard; and Command Sgt. Maj. Sean Carney, the Illinois Army National Guard Command Sergeant Major. On the Polish side from front to back are Command Sgt. Maj. Sławomir Nastarowicz, the Command Sergeant Major of the Polish General Staff; Maj. Gen. Adam Joks, the Deputy Commander of the Polish General Staff; and Col. Artur Pisarek, the Branch Chief for Plans (J5) of the Polish General Staff. — in Warsaw, Poland.
