Sgt. Gerald L. Peck, Gulfport, Miss., of the Poplarville-based Company B, 1st Battalion, 155th Infantry Regiment, shows off his unit patch while road marching for 6 miles with a 40-pound ruck sack during the Mississippi Army National Guard’s 2012 Best Warrior Competition, held March 21-23 at Camp McCain, Miss. One of nine in the competition, each soldier challenged a wide range of events designed to evaluate their Army aptitude. Events also included a written test, Army Physical Fitness Test, M4 rifle and M9 pistol qualification, Engagement Skills Trainer, land navigation, combative competition, obstacle course and Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Interview Board.
