Airman 1st Class Dawson Hindman, explosive ordnance disposal apprentice, 509th Civil Engineer Squadron, helps Eli Conley, Emil’s brother, Lee Summit, Missouri, take off an EOD blast suit, on July 19, 2019, at Whiteman Air Force Base. A blast suit is designed to protect the EOD Airmen from threats associated with improvised explosive devices, including those related to fragmentation, blast overpressure, impact, heat, and flame. The Pilot for a Day program focuses on providing a child that is suffering with an illness the opportunity to tour Whiteman AFB and experience what it's like to be a B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber pilot. Whiteman AFB collaborates with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to coordinate these tours. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Thomas Barley)
