U.S. Navy Cmdr. Andrew Wade, Marine Corps Forces Pacific, deputy force chaplain, talks with local Philippine children before a soccer clinic implemented in partnership with the Azkals, the Philippine national football team, April 20. U.S. service members participating in Exercise Balikatan 2012 volunteered their time to assist the team with the clinic. Exercise Balikatan is an annual training event aimed at improving combined planning, combat readiness, humanitarian assistance and interoperability between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and United States. The word "balikatan" in Filipino means "shoulder-to-shoulder."
