A Filipino boy passes a futbol overhead to start relay drills at a youth futbol clinic, April 20, at Camp Aguinaldo, Philippines. U.S. service members participating in Exercise Balikatan 2012, together with players from the Philippine national futbol team, the Azkals, volunteered their time to assist with the youth futbol clinic. Balikatan is an annual Republic of the Philippines-U.S. military exercise focusing on field training, humanitarian assistance and a command post exercise. The exercise increases our armed forces’ ability to respond quickly and work together efficiently to provide relief and assistance in the event of natural disasters and other crises. The word "balikatan" in Filipino means "shoulder-to-shoulder."
