U.S. service members participating in Exercise Balikatan 2012 volunteered their time to assist the Philippine national futbol team, the Azkals hosted a a youth futbol clinic, April 20, at Camp Aguinaldo, Philippines. Balikatan is an annual Republic of the Philippines-U.S. military exercise focusing on field training, humanitarian assistance and a command post exercise. The exercise increases our armed forces’ ability to respond quickly and work together efficiently to provide relief and assistance in the event of natural disasters and other crises. The word "balikatan" in Filipino means "shoulder-to-shoulder."
