A Filipino boy is taught ball handling skills by the Philippine Azkals’ goalie during a youth futbol clinic April 20, 2012, at Camp Aguinaldo, Philippines. The Azkals, the Philippine national futbol team, together with U.S. service members participating in Exercise Balikatan 2012 volunteered their time to assist with the clinic. Balikatan is an annual Republic of the Philippines-U.S. military exercise focusing on field training, humanitarian assistance and a command post exercise. Additionally, it increases our armed forces’ ability to respond quickly and work together efficiently to provide relief and assistance in the event of natural disasters and other crises. The word "balikatan" in Filipino means "shoulder-to-shoulder."
