Gunnery Sgt. Nicole Adams from Roseville, Calif., will compete in the 2012 Warrior Games in Colorado Springs, Colo., April 30-May 5. Adams, 30, will compete in track and field and swimming. She currently serves as the Warrior Athlete Reconditioning chief at Wounded Warrior Battalion West at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif. The 2000 Woodcreek High School graduate joined the Corps she says, "for the challenges and being part of the most elite group of warrior." Adams said training for the games helps her to maintain a positive mental attitude and focus on a team sport. More than 200 wounded, ill or injured service members from the Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and Special Operations Command are scheduled to compete in the Paralympic-style competition.
