Sgt. Travis Gard, the Regional Network Operations Security Center non-commissioned officer in charge for Marine Forces Reserve and a New Orleans native, cuts the plastic planter from a new tree to plant here April 18. Marines from MARFORRES volunteered at the event for Hike for KaTREEna, a non-profit organization dedicated to replacing trees lost after Hurricane Katrina. The event was part of NOLA Navy week, in which New Orleans served as the inaugural city in a three-year national celebration commemorating the War of 1812 and “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
