NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (Oct. 21, 2019) Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Jay Cherluck, from Detroit, assigned to USS Gerald R. Ford's (CVN 78) medical department, prepares to give Capt. John J. Cummings, Ford's commanding officer, a flu shot in one of the ship's medical rooms. Ford's medical department is preparing to vaccinate the entire crew against the flu virus in order to ensure the crew remains medically ready as the ship prepares to go out to sea.
