Students of Officer Candidate School (OCS) class 03-20 at Officer Training Command, Newport (OTCN) in Rhode Island, hold up their regulators of the self-contained breathing apparatus to signal to the instructor they are ready to proceed with training on Oct. 24, 2019. Firefighting is one of five warfighting competencies that are taught to every officer at OCS. OCS develops civilians and fleet Sailors into newly commissioned officers morally, mentally, physically and imbue them with the highest ideals of honor, courage and commitment in order to prepare graduates for service in the fleet as Naval officers.
