Lincoln Land Community College Professor Dr. Chris McDonald discusses life on the frontline for World War I Soldiers. Dr. McDonald's lecture was part of the Illinois State Military Museum's Great War Encampment on Nov. 9, 2019. Dr. McDonald has been a museum volunteer for many years. He shares his interest in World War I and educates others through a variety of activities. In 2007, he hosted a World War I consortium featuring experts on the war. He designed a “Trunk From the Attic” of war artifacts to be used for teaching in middle and high school classrooms. He has led multiple study abroad trips to World War I battlefield sites. He continues to research and also participates in community lectures and discussion boards about the war. The museum highlights the history and proud legacy of the Illinois National Guard.
