Illinois State Military Museum volunteers Stan Buckles of Mount Pulaski, Illinois, and Ken Baumann of Michigan, listen to author Jim Bilder speak during the Illinois State Military Museum's Great War Encampment on Nov. 9, 2019 at the museum in Springfield, Illinois. Bilder wrote, Artillery Scout, telling the story of his grandfather, Len Fairfield, and his experience in World War I. Jim was a featured presenter during the encampment. The encampment tells the story of the Illinois National Guard in World War I. The museum tells the history and proud legacy of the Illinois National Guard. With just two full-time employees, the museum relies on a full cadre of volunteers to operate daily and present more than a dozen events each year to thousands of visitors. (U.S. Army photo by Lt.
