John Krug of Ottawa, Illinois, gives 17-year-old Ben Leighton a ride in his U.S. Army 1916 Model T Ford. Krug brought the 1916 Model T and a U.S. Army 1917 Model T ambulance to the Illinois State Military Museum's Great War Encampment on Nov. 9, 2019 at the museum in Springfield, Illinois. The encampment tells the story of the Illinois National Guard in World War I. The museum tells the history and proud legacy of the Illinois National Guard. With just two full-time employees, the museum relies on a full cadre of volunteers to operate daily and present more than a dozen events each year to thousands of visitors. (U.S. Army photo by Lt. Col. Brad Leighton, Illinois National Guard Public Affairs.)
