    Exercise Arctic Edge 2020

A civilian program engineer with the U.S. Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) briefs media on types of unmanned underwater vehicles assigned to Navy Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) Mobile Unit Three Mine Countermeasures platoon. The SRS FUSION and DEFENDER remotely operated vehicles are on display during the U.S. Northern Command exercise Arctic Edge 2020 (AE20) in Gastineau Channel, Juneau, Alaska. Navy EOD delivers rapid-response, independent, adaptive and scalable units that are mission effective from first detection of an enemy mine to its destruction and exploitation. The Arctic Edge exercise occurs every two years and provides the opportunity to hone current and test future applications of combat operations and weapons capabilities in Arctic and sub-Arctic environments. AE20 will have approximately 1,000 participants, including U.S. active duty, Reserve and National Guard component from the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines, as well as approximately 55 members of the Canadian Armed Services.
