Soldiers with the 3rd Infantry Division work to screen potential patients for symptoms of COVID-19 at a drive-through facility at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Georgia, April 4, 2020. Fort Stewart and HAAF Garrisons, along with leaders of Winn Army Community Hospital, began conducting the screening to assist in mitigating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic after recently raising the Military community’s Health Protection Condition level. Capt. Elijah Lloyd, the screening operation’s officer in charge, who is also assigned to 1st Battalion, 41st Field Artillery Regiment, said, “This is important, because it will allow us to better understand the threat that is COVID-19. It’s also good that we have a couple locations between here at Hunter Army Airfield and Fort Stewart, because here, we are closer to Tybee Island, so the retirees have a closer place to go.”
