Staff Sgt. Jesse Kramer from the California Air National Guard’s 146th Airlift Wing assembles bedding, April 4, 2020, at the Redding Civic Auditorium in Redding, California. Kramer is one of 30 Airmen from the 146th AW to deploy on this federal medical station (FMS) mission since California Gov. Newsom activated members of the Cal Guard for humanitarian missions during the COVID-19 crisis. An FMS offers health and medical surge capability and capacity for short-term patients who have healthcare needs that cannot be accommodated or provided for in a local hospital or shelter.
