U.S. Marine Corps Pfc. Kasey DiMatteo, a chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear defense specialist with 3rd Marine Division, shares his experience, on Camp Foster, June 1, 2020, in the Joint Reception Center (JRC) program, a week-long orientation to the island of Okinawa.

“I feel honored that the Okinawa community is allowing us to stay here,” said DiMatteo. “We might not speak their language, but hopefully I can have a positive impact on the local community.”

DiMatteo’s experience in JRC is wrapping up as he gets ready to go to his unit. He went through a week of classes, training, and hard work to prepare for the fleet.

“I will go to my unit tomorrow, and I am ready to get to work,” he said. “I can't wait to see what they have in store for me.”

Despite COVID-19 restrictions, JRC Marines have continued to assist hundreds of accompanied and unaccompanied service members with their overseas transition. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Karis Mattingly)
