Sgt. Colin Jeffcoat, the non-commissioned officer in charge of Camp Buehring’s First Sergeant’s Detail, poses by a white board showing the myriad of ongoing chores and projects his soldiers are tasked with in order to help sustain the camp and the nearly 7,000 personnel who live and work there. Despite the apparent drudgery of the work, the half-dozen soldiers of the detail have found ways to make the best of it. The soldiers belong to the 4th Battalion, 118th Infantry Regiment, South Carolina Army National Guard, which took over camp and security-force operations in northern Kuwait in April. Jeffcoat is from Lexington, S.C.
