The soldiers of Camp Buehring’s First Sergeant’s Detail pose near the camp recycling point, where many items have been improperly disposed of. Continually cleaning the area is just one of the myriad of jobs the detail takes care of to help sustain the camp and the nearly 7,000 personnel who live and work there. The half-dozen soldiers of the First Sergeant’s Detail belong to the 4th Battalion, 118th Infantry Regiment, South Carolina Army National Guard, which took over camp and security-force operations in northern Kuwait in April. The Soldiers are (standing, from left) Spc. Zachary Lewis, Georgetown, S.C.; Spc. Gabriel Wilson, Aynor, S.C.; Spc. Nicholas Orwig, Lewistown, Ill.; Sgt. Evan Guthrie, Roseville, Ill.; (kneeling, from left) Spc. Cameron Durham, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Sgt. Colin Jeffcoat, Lexington, S.C. Jeffcoat is in charge of the First Sergeant’s Detail.
