“I was born and raised on Yap Island, Federated States of Micronesia. I am the first one in my family to serve in the military. Growing up where I'm from, my family didn't have much. The United States had been supporting my country for 61 years, and I was set on joining the U.S. military since I graduated high school. I thought joining and serving in the U.S. Armed Forces would be the best way to say thank you and to be able to pay it forward. Joining the Marine Corps, I knew it would make me a better person mentally and physically. All the challenges and obstacles I have had to face in the Marine Corps have made me stronger and a better leader."
