U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Chase Bellas, a combat engineer team leader with 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group (MLG), positions an M18A1 Claymore at Demo Range 2, Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, July 8, 2020. Claymores are directional command-detonated mines that shoot a pattern of metal balls 100 meters out within a 60 degree arc in front of the device. Bellas, a native of Seattle, Washington, graduated from Issaquah High School in 2018 and enlisted out of Recruiting Station Bellevue in 2018. 3rd MLG provides III Marine Expeditionary Force comprehensive logistics and combat service support for operations throughout the Indo-Pacific area of responsibility.
