U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Jacob Speer, a section assistant with 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group (3rd MLG), secures detonating cords together at Demo Range 2, Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, July 8, 2020. Detonation cord helps ensure the explosion of ordnance after the fuse timer burns through, igniting the blasting cap. Speer, a native of Knoxville, Iowa, graduated from Knoxville High School in 2011 and enlisted out of Recruiting Station Des Moines in 2011. 3rd MLG provides III Marine Expeditionary Force comprehensive logistics and combat service support for operations throughout the Indo-Pacific area of responsibility.
