Oregon Army National Guard Spc. Dominic Draheim, 224th Engineer Company operates a scraper at Camp Umatilla near Hermiston, Ore., August 6th, 2020. The Scraper allows for topsoil to be collected and later dumped, to create a more level trail. Draheim is scraped up the top few inches to remove brush and other debris that could pose a hazard to vehicles during training. The company created several miles of off-road trails for convoys and heavy vehicles to maneuver through the old storage bunkers on the 20 square mile training base. The conditions of these combat roads are similar to what would be constructed in a deployed environment.
