Michael Lydko, 18th Maintenance Operations Squadron instructor element noncommissioned officer in charge, places an “Eagle Keeper” patch July 26, 2012, on a Mount Suribachi-based memorial to the U.S. Marines who fell during the Battle of Iwo Jima in February 1945. Mount Suribachi is the site of where the iconic photo “Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima” was taken after the battle.
