Elaine Taylor, animal control officer with Cherry Point Provost Marshals Office and volunteer for the Feds Feed Families campaign, carries a box full of donated food from Cherry Point into a Havelock, N.C., food bank, Aug. 3. Since the beginning of the campaign, Cherry Point personnel have donated more than 4,500 pounds of non-perishable food to local food banks. The federal-wide food drive is in response to food bank shortages during the summer months as children are left without school nutrition programs. "The food bank we deliver to feeds 120-130 families a week," said Stratton. "So, they welcome the donations."
