Lieutenant General Mark R. Wise sights in on a simulated target with a modified FIM-92 Stinger missile with the assistance of Cpl. Joshua Mitrano at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, Dec. 8, 2020. Wise visited the Marines of 2nd Low Altitude Air Defense (LAAD) Battalion to discuss the changes happening throughout Marine Corps Aviation. Wise is the Deputy Commandant for Aviation, serving as the principle advisor on all aviation matters and the principle spokesperson of Marine Corps aviation programs, requirements, and strategy throughout the Department of the Navy and the Department of Defense. Mitrano is a low altitude air defense gunner at 2nd LAAD, a subordinate unit of 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing. 2nd MAW is the air combat element of II Marine Expeditionary Force.
