Wise visited the Marines of 2nd Low Altitude Air Defense (LAAD) Battalion to discuss the changes happening throughout Marine Corps Aviation. Wise is the Deputy Commandant for Aviation, serving as the principle advisor on all aviation matters and the principle spokesperson of Marine Corps aviation programs, requirements, and strategy throughout the Department of the Navy and the Department of Defense. Steigler and Phares are low altitude air defense gunners at 2nd LAAD, a subordinate unit of 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing. 2nd MAW is the air combat element of II Marine Expeditionary Force.
