Federal agents alongside pilots and crew chiefs, from C Company, 1st Battalion, 131st Aviation Regiment, listen to a safety brief, Sept. 3, at the Mecklenburg Police Academy before practicing an emergency response training flight in support of the Democratic National Convention. The North Carolina National Guard Black Hawk helicopters were available to haul the agents and nearly 5,000 pounds of equipment into areas that emergency vehicles were unable to reach. The team was a back-up contingency, only available as a last resort.
