Mike Davis, a volunteer and local resident, roasts chilies during the second annual Chilies for Willie fundraiser in the parking lot of 88 Grill in Las Cruces, N.M., Sept. 8. Davis also participated in the chili roast last year and helped build the roaster he is using. One and a half tons of chilies were donated by local growers. The event raised nearly $10,000 for Willie’s Heroes, an organization that sponsors Honor Flight, Guide On and the Wounded Warrior Project. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt.
