Career highlights: Lt. Gallant started her career as a non-rate at Coast Guard Station Annapolis, then a boatswain’s mate at Coast Guard Station Fort Lauderdale. She attended Officer Candidate School, and served in the command center at Coast Guard Sector Miami. She completed a Master’s degree in human performance technology at Florida State University in between duty days. She serves as the president of the Women’s
Leadership Initiative for Team Kodiak and helped plan the first Women’s Leadership Symposium. She is married to a Coast Guard rescue swimmer and has a five month old daughter.
Inspiration: Gallant just completed a successful tour as the first female commanding officer of Coast Guard Station Cape Disappointment, a very busy surf station in Oregon. She exudes strength and compassion and knowledge.
Words of wisdom: “Seek leadership and guidance from other women operating in similar jobs and maintain relationships with them; they will be your greatest mentors,” said Gallant. “Team Kodiak has been such an inclusive environment for me as a woman Coastie, as a unit command member, and for my family.”
Career goal: To take command of a small boat station.
