Alabama National Guard Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Sheryl Gordon speaks to community leaders about the importance of the new barracks construction project.

The groundbreaking ceremony, held July 29, 2021, kicked off an estimated two-and-a-half-year project at the Alabama National Guard's Fort McClellan Training Center in Anniston, Ala., that is replacing 15 WWII-era buildings with three two-story barracks, two single-story barracks, two dining facilities, two company administration buildings, and a battalion headquarters building, totaling 107,812 square feet of new construction with bunk space for more than 350 personnel.
