Staff Sgt. Timothy Young, a nodal network systems operator-maintainer from the 228th Theater Tactical Signal Brigade, of the South Carolina National Guard, describes how signal is transmitted using a Joint Network Node (JNN) system during Combat Support Training Exercise (CSTX) at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, Aug. 14, 2021. The JNN system requires line of sight adjustments to transmit signal to another improved tactical training base. “We have to hand-adjust [the JNN] to transmit line of sight, to clear the trees and other terrain and reach the other sites,” said Young.
The 78th Training Division, in charge of this rotation of CSTX, intends for the exercise to prepare U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers for near-peer adversary environments. (U.S. Army Photo by Staff Sgt. Brigitte Morgan)
