Spc. Bryant Boyd, an information technology specialist, and Pfc. Jayden Porter, a cable systems installer, both from the 151st Expeditionary Signal Battalion, 228th Theater Tactical Signal Brigade, of the South Carolina National Guard, send a status report during Combat Support Training Exercise (CSTX) at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, Aug. 14, 2021. Boyd was assisting Porter in a cross-training session by showing him how to use the computer systems. “[This job] is really good to have for the civilian side,” said Porter. “I’ve always been interested in cables [...] I want to be a lineman and so the two kind of coincide with each other.” The U.S. Army provides Soldiers with the opportunity to hone their military occupational skills to create healthy dual civilian-military career progression.
