Joseph Halus, an armored crewman assigned to 6th Squadron, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, aims an M17, the Army’s new service pistol replacing the M9, on Fort Stewart, Georgia, Sept. 29, 2021. The new pistol is built with a more ergonomic configuration to better accommodate the widest possible range of hand grip techniques for Soldiers and enable rapid hand switching as needed in combat.
