In the afternoon sun, a Stryker moves through the city of Mosul, Iraq. The eight-wheeled, 350-horsepower, diesel engine Stryker vehicle is the Armys newest tactical fighting vehicle, used for the first time in combat operations by the 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team) based in northern Iraq, during Operation Iraqi Freedom II. The Stryker vehicle is being utilized in combat operations in seven different variations. This variation is the Infantry Carrier vehicle, able to carry a full squad of nine Soldiers, plus it?s crew of two Soldiers, into any combat situation with speed and mobility.
