Hans Knittlmeier, Senior National Representative with NATO Alliance Ground Surveillance Force, speaks to more than a hundred participants from 16 different nations before the start of a two-day event dedicated to qualifying for the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge hosted by the German contingent assigned to NATO AGSF on Naval Air Station Sigonella, June 11, 2022. To qualify for the badge, participants had to compete in 100-meter swim in uniform, shuttle-sprints, 1,000-meter run, pull-up hang, marksmanship range and ruck march. NAS Sigonella’s strategic location enables U.S., allied, and partner nation forces to deploy and respond as required, ensuring security and stability in Europe, Africa, and Central Command.
