Aaron Shoemaker, commanding officer Naval Air Station Sigonella (yellow shirt), takes part in the 1,000-meter run during a two-day event dedicated to earning the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge hosted by the German contingent assigned to NATO Alliance Ground Surveillance Force on Naval Air Station Sigonella, June 11, 2022. To qualify for the badge, participants had to compete in 100-meter swim in uniform, shuttle-sprints, 1,000-meter run, pull-up hang, marksmanship range and ruck march. NAS Sigonella’s strategic location enables U.S., allied, and partner nation forces to deploy and respond as required, ensuring security and stability in Europe, Africa, and Central Command.
