PACIFIC OCEAN (July 11, 2022) – Amphibious Combat Vehicles (ACV) with the 3d Assault Amphibian Battalion, 1st Marine Division, simulate an ACV recovery before approaching the well deck of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), July 11. ACVs used in amphibious operations amplify the Navy-Marine Corps team to operate in a realistic, combined-arms environment to enhance naval warfighting tactics, techniques and procedures. Makin Island is currently underway conducting routine operations in U.S. 3rd Fleet. (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Nadia Lund)
