PACIFIC OCEAN (July 11, 2022) – Amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) anchors in the Pacific Ocean, July 11. Makin Island has the ability to embark and support all Marine aviation assets including the MV-22 Osprey and the F-35B Lightning II as well as supports the transportation of Marine land vehicles and troops from ship to shore creating a more lethal force in support of naval expeditionary warfare.
