SASEBO, Japan (July 14, 2022) – Utilitiesman 1st Class Joseph Maddox and Steelworker 2nd Class Lawrence Evanslarkin assigned to Underwater Construction Team TWO (UCT-2) Construction Dive Detachment Bravo (CDD/B) conduct a recovery dive for a lost mooring bollard that was broken off by a departing ship from Akasaki Wharf, located at US Navy Fuel Station Akasaki in Sasebo, Japan. Akasaki Wharf is one of the primary fueling piers for Navy assets within the 7th Fleet Area of Responsibility (AOR). UCT-2 CDD/B has been tasked with executing temporary repairs at Akasaki Wharf to prevent further undermining while the pier awaits a permanent repair.
