SAN DIEGO (Oct. 13, 2022) – Heaving lines lay on the pier following the return of guided-missile destroyer USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62), Oct. 13. Heaving lines are attached to a mooring line and are used to send a heavier line between a vessel and the pier. Makin Island is currently homeported in San Diego.
