U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Aaron Trent (right), commanding officer of Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 122, Marine Aircraft Group 13, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW), and Sgt. Donald Hardiman, a plane captain, walk to an F-35B Lightning II on Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma, Arizona, Nov. 9, 2022. The squadron is departing MCAS Yuma to join the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) as the first full F-35B Lightning II squadron to deploy with a MEU. 3rd MAW Marines, Sailors, aircraft and equipment are consistently forward deployed across the globe in support of missions across the range of military operations.
