“I am proud of the fact I have gone so far with my physical fitness. Before joining, I was not where I wanted to be. Getting paid to stay physically fit has helped me reach a lot of my personal goals.”
U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Keegan McCarthy, a small arms technician with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing.
Before joining the Marine Corps, McCarthy worked at an apple orchard. Inspired by his grandfather (a Vietnam veteran), the structure of the Corps, and the camaraderie, McCarthy made the decision to join. He now works as an armorer with hopes to go to the Marine Special Operations Command Assessment and Selection Program. McCarthy is a native of La Crescent, Minnesota.
